A recent article from azfamily details the gruesome accounts Sunday of April 7, 2019 in which seven people died from several separate car collisions across Arizona. The basis of the article is a compilation of multiple news stories describing separate car collisions from Phoenix, Mesa, and Scottsdale.

The first collision occurred in around 9:15 a.m. at the intersection 29th Avenue and Bethany Home Road. Based on a investigation, authorities believe that a pickup truck turned left in the intersection in front of an oncoming fire truck. The latter of which had its lights and siren on because it was responding to a fire. The collision caused the deaths of all three pickup truck occupants; Dariana Serran (age 19), Kenneth Collision (20), and Kenneth Collins Jr. (4 months). Three firefighters were also seriously injured.

The second collision occurred around noon in Mesa near Union Hills Road and State Route 101, and caused the death of the motorcyclist involved. Azfamily was not provided with further details regarding the crash.

The third collision occurred just prior to 2 p.m. in Scottsdale near Hayden Road and the Loop 101. The initial crash involved two vehicles that later struck a third due to the force of the collision. One of the cars involved was a rideshare vehicle, the driver of which was killed because of the collision. Several people were also transported to the hospital for their injuries including the driver of the first vehicle and the occupants of the third vehicle. Police suspect that impairment might have been a factor.

The fourth collision occurred just a short time after the third. The collision occurred near Carefree Highway and 27th Avenue when a motorcyclist crashed into the median. The motorcyclist died as result of the collision.

The events Sunday of April 7, 2019 serve as grim and unfortunate reminder of the risks we incur while traveling on the roadways. One death is a tragedy let alone several on the same day.
